Worship

Worship is central to the parish. Choice is provided in terms of time and style. Our wish is to provide all that is best in the traditions of Anglican liturgy combined with the freshness of contemporary expressions. Most of our main services use 'A New Zealand Prayer Book - He Karakia Mihinae of Aotearoa' first published in 1989.  Data show equipment has been installed recently in St Mary's which enhances the 10am worship there enabling more variety in songs and prayer.

Regular Sunday Services are:

8am St Mary's Halswell
9am All Saints, Prebbleton
10am St Mary's Halswell

All these are full communion services with the exception of 10am on the third Sunday of each month which is a Family Service. For families requesting Baptism this is the most appropriate occasion.

Evening services are held on the first and third Sunday of the month at 7pm. These may be more informal incorporating modern music, readings, drama and prayer known as Café Church or an Evening Communion introducing elements from such sources as Celtic and Taize worship.

All Saints in Prebbleton have a combined evening service with the Union Church there in place of the 9am whenever there is a fifth Sunday in the month.

A midweek communion service is provided in St. Mary’s each Wednesday at 10am with an additional 7am offered in Lent.

Prayer for healing is offered at our services once a month.
